After finishing the 1st academic year never thought that I would get a long vacation of nearly two months. From the very first day of the vacation I was all bored up doing nothing. Suddenly a friend came up with the idea of going out and doing some community service and decided to activate the idea on the same day itself.
It was volunteering in a nearby children’s home where I had to cope up with about 25 little kids. They were some homeless kids where they are taken care of by the government . When I entered there it seemed like they have everything. But they lack one thing , that is love and affection they needed, that could be given by parents. When working with them you understand that very badly.
They needed someone to rise them up when they fall, somebody to look into them when they cry, somebody to play with, somebody to hear their little stories, somebody to help them with their work, somebody to read them stories, somebody to sing with and to dance. The time I spent there it was a pleasure to be there with them in everything they do, to be a better companion and a friend to them.
When you evolve in these kind of things it’s really rewarding. I am satisfied when I know that I contribute to make others’ lives better in my own way. It is a nice little experience that makes you happy at the end.
We may not see the people in need as we get everything, but it’s our responsibility to look into them and to help in a way we can. It may be something small but it would make us both happy. So if you can be the reason for their smile, it would be the most nicest thing in this world!!
