The Victory Seekers New Journey: Freshers’ Beach Volleyball 2019

Winning is fun! sure. But winning is not the point. Wanting to win is the point. Not giving up is the point. Never letting up is the point. Never being satisfied with what you’ve done is the point!

With the dawn of the 3rd November, It marked the day of another marvelous game. Thus beach volleyball began it’s first journey of seeking winners of the freshers’ championship. Though it is a new event for UOC calendar, many victory seeking young talents gathered to the Heiyanthuduwa Training Center NYSC, with the same intention of grabbing this new mighty championship.

The tournament was held under both male and female categories. Eight boys teams and seven girls teams were there in order to achieve their unstoppable goals. Every single point was not a easy task as it was a new experience for all the victory hungers. After many tough and energetic battles, boys’ teams of Institute of Indigenous Medicine, University of Colombo School Of Computing, Faculty Of Science, Faculty of Management could enter the semi finals path.

Having won the semifinals, the Institute of Indigenous Medicine and the Faculty of Science entered to the finals. It was an absolutely energetic battle and somehow the IIM grabbed the mighty championship. The Faculty of Science had to settle for the 1st Runners up spot.

In the girls’ matches, the Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Technology, University of Colombo School of Computing, Sripali campus all  stepped forward to the semi finals path. After competitive semi final matches UCSC and Faculty of Arts could fly to the journey of finals. Marking a energetic battle finally Faculty of Arts could grab the girls’ championship. Thus UCSC could gain 1st Runners up.

However the consolation finals were not completed because of the lack of time and the inclement weather. Thus both UCSC and Faculty of Management shared the 3rd place of boys’ category. Similarly, both Sripali campus and Faculty of Technology shared the girls’ 3rd place.

Thus, this beautiful day ended up creating new champions, new memories, new unstoppable talents and new hopes for UOC. We FOS media, congratulate all the winners and thank all the participants of this new journey, for setting their goals high and never quitting till the end.
