Give life to the dead

Share

Each and every one of us will have to face death. In your life you may have experienced someone you loved, passing away and you may miss them a lot. Unfortunately, no matter how much the technology is advanced, there is no cure for death.

We have watched all sorts of fiction movies and  dramas where dead people are brought back to life back but all those are just fantasy. Among those movies, have you all watched Percy Jackson and the sea monsters?  The movie starts with the story of a small girl named “Thalia”, who sacrifices her life to save her friends. The story says, “Her name was Thalia and she gave her life to save trees. So as Thalia lay dying, her father Zeus found another way for her to live” She was transformed into a Pine tree by god and it made a barrier which protected her friends.

Even though this sounds like a fantasy, it is no longer impossible. Scientists have found a way to turn dead into a tree.  You may not be able to give life to a dead person, but you can make them live in another form of life. This is done through a specially made biodegradable urn, which helps to turn the remains of a living being into a tree or even a plant.

Human ash, which remains after cremation, does not contain organic matter. The heat of the furnace is very high. Hence it evaporates all the blood, body fluids and flesh, leaving the ashes to be made of just pulverized bone. The pH value of this ash is harmful for the growth of a seed into a plant. As a solution to this, the biodegradable urn consists of two separate chambers. The top chamber is filled with fertilized soil or wood chips and the seed is planted there. The bottom chamber holds ashes. The seed grows in fertilized soil and then the plant roots are mixed with minerals and ashes.

This tree which is grown from the remains of the person that passed away, allows a person to feel companionship, celebrate and recall the moments you spent together and keep their memory present in our lives. There would be no better honour to give them.

Instead of cutting trees to make monuments, tombs or gravestones for your passed loved ones, this can be a more suitable method to keep them alive and to give them the opportunity to protect you and mother Earth, by contributing to protect the environment.
