STREET LIGHT

In a small quiet town, there was a lone street light shining at the corner of the  Streets. Each night, this street light shone brightly, guiding people safely through the darkness.

One evening, a fierce storm rolled in. The wind howled and rain poured down in sheets. The street light stood tall in the storm. Its light flickering but never going out. Its glow cut through the rain casting a warm and comforting light on the wet pavement.

As the storm raged, a young man walked through the rain. His umbrella was no match for the wind and his clothes were soaked. He was with his broken hopes thinking he cannot pass through the storm. Although the storm disturbed his mind, he could not stop his journey because it was a journey that was decisive for the lives of several people. He hid the few pieces of bread in one hand in his torn and soaked coat so as not to get wet from the rain. At a moment he thought he could disappear in the strom. He felt lost and overwhelmed struggling to see through the downpour.

When he reached the street light, he paused and looked up. Despite the storm, the light remained steady offering a bright spot in the midst of the darkness. He stood under its glow finding some peace amid the chaos. The light of the street light seemed to say, “Even though it’s stormy, I’m here to guide you.”

He felt a bit stronger feeling comforted by the street light’s steady presence. He realized that just like the street light he could keep going despite the troubles he faced. He took a deep breath and continued his walk with renewed hope. As he went on, he turned to the street lamp again for the last time and looked respectfully bowing his head. The light of the street lamp also dimmed slightly as a response to his action.

The storm eventually passed and as time went on the street light continued its quiet duty. It stood firm through every season ; winter snow, spring rain, summer heat always shining and always guiding.

The street light was a simple thing but it offered more than just light. It was a reminder that even in the darkest and stormiest times, there could be a guiding light that helps us find our way.
