Martin Luther King Jr. has rightly said, “Take the first step in faith. You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step”. This year too, students across Sri Lanka registered in the Faculty of Science of University of Colombo with lot of faith and hope. This transition from school to university makes students feel as they are starting a new chapter in their lives. Their new life just began in University of Colombo.

The Faculty of Science of University of Colombo is considered as one of the prestigious centers of scientific and technological excellence in national and international levels. Lying in the heart of Colombo, FoS provides the growing thinkers and innovators plentiful new openings to quench their thirst for knowledge.

How would UoC FoS guide them to become quality professionals?

Apart from being a highly reputed Faculty it provides the students with many other advantages having a wide variety of student bodies such as clubs and societies and good facilities for sports where students can engage in. One of the specialties of this Faculty is that it provides a learning environment devoid of unrest, ragging and violence.

The new intake is being registered in January every year. Registration of 2018/2019 Batch of Faculty of Science, University of Colombo was held on the 4th of January 2019 at faculty premises.

“The registrations were held successfully this year too with the collaboration of  Examination and Registration Branch of the university and Information Technology Unit (ITU) of Faculty of Science. The Intensive English Programme Test and student registrations was held on the same day of the registration for the very first time this year. It was a good initiative as both tasks were able to handle efficiently on a single day” shared Mrs.Vajira Hapuhinna Jayaratne; Deputy Registrar of Faculty of Science.

Orientations along with the English and Tamil programs started on Monday, 07th January 2019. The academic activities will be commenced from 05th February 2019.

Not every student is lucky enough to get the opportunity to study at the Faculty of Science, UoC. Hope this new batch will embrace it and make the most of their time at UoC !
