March 30^th Saturday dawned with a bunch of hopes for all the new comers of university of Colombo. With months of hard work and perseverance, they were all with burning eyes and pounding hearts for Karate tournament. Many competitors representing Faculty of  Management and Finance, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Arts and Faculty of Science participated in the Karate tournament.

Warriors from the faculties of management and science had a neck to neck competition from the beginning. The Karate event was categorized based on the level of experience of the players, where black belt and colored belt marks were counted in row.

Male Category:

• Champions : Faculty of Science
• 1^st runners up : Faculty of Management
• 2^nd runners up : UCSC
• 4^th place : Faculty of Medicine
• 5^th place : Faculty of Law
• 6^th place : Faculty of Nursing

Female Category:

• Champions : Faculty of Science
• Joint 1^st runners up : Faculties of Management and Law
• Joint 4^th place : Faculty of Medicine and UCSC
• 6^th place : Faculty of Arts
• 7^th place : Faculty of Nursing

Overall Results:

• Champions : Faculty of Science

• 1^st runners up : Faculty of  Management

• 2^nd runners up : UCSC

• 4^th place : Faculty of Law
• 5^th place : Faculty of Medicine
• 6^th place : Faculty of Arts
• 7^th place : Faculty of Nursing

It was truly aspiring to witness such an enthusiastic audience. Cheering up their friends. Never letting them down. The university gymnasium was filled with not only freshers but also seniors who were all supportive for their fellow gals and guys.

Boys’ Karate event was a must to watch as they fought vigorously despite any fear and the bravery was all evident. All the events of Karate tournament were concluded with everyone realizing that all of them are children of same family. Family of University of Colombo. Winning or losing, is all a part of just a game. We are bonded with a much stronger bond. Bond of family. Congratulation for Champions and best of luck from FOS Media, for all the players of Freshers’ Tournament 2019 for upcoming events!
