Love you for a thousand years

“Those three words

Are said too much

They’re not enough”

Those lyrics of chasing cars by Snow petrol came to my mind when I heard “I LOVE YOU” everywhere around. Even in radio channels TV channels look so romantic . Gardens filled with red roses, red coloured decorations, gifts and cards, chocolates, faces filled with joy and girls almost blushed and their cheeks are red and this month looks so full of love, romance and enthusiasm. Its the month of February, the special month of year where there are only 28 days unlike other months and on the middle of this month 14th is celebrated Valentine’s day as a dedication to all the lovers around the world.

I remember this famous quote which I found in the book “walk to remember “by Nicholas Sparks which I think is the best to explain the feeling of love.

“Love is like the wind, you can’t see it but you can feel it.”

Love is profoundly tender, passionate affection for another person, a feeling of warm personal attachment or deep affection, as for a parent, child or   a friend. Love is an echo in the feelings of a unity subsisting between two persons which is founded both on likeness and on complementary differences.

It’s a sacred feeling together with dedication, patient, kindness, sacrifice. It need to be celebrated, not just on a specific day but every day.

Since there is a specific day let’s see how this day came in to celebrations.

Valentine’s Day is celebrated all over the world as a celebration of love. Even though one special day is not enough to celebrate love there is a nice history for this day.

There was an Emperor called Claudius and he required soldiers to fight battles for him. He thought that married men made very bad soldiers since they gave priority to their families and most of the married soldiers were reluctant to leave their families for battle. So Claudius abolished the concept of marriage.

Saint Valentine catholic priest realizing the injustice of the decree, took it upon himself to get the soldiers married. He used to secretly invite lovers to his place and conduct their marriages. When Emperor Claudius learnt about this he was furious and had Valentine arrested.

According to the legend while in jail and awaiting execution Valentine fell in love with the blind daughter of the jailer. Before his execution Valentine had sent her a message signed “From Your Valentine”. Till date, this phrase coined by Valentine remains ever popular and is used worldwide on Valentine’s Day.

They might have waited for thousand years. They will look in to their eyes. They will be holding hands together. They will be watching stars together. They would be singing together.

Happy Valentine’s Day for all the lovers.

Even if you haven’t met your valentine yet don’t worry. Someday someone is going to look at you with a light in their eyes you’ve never seen, they’ll look at you like you are everything they’ve been looking for their entire lives. Wait for it.

Let me finish my article with my favorite song lyrics.

“I don’t know how you do what you do
I’m so in love with you
It just keeps getting better
I wanna spend the rest of my life
With you by my side
Forever and ever
Every little thing that you do
Baby I’m amazed by you”
